about ulsoor lake

Abundant greenery and serenity welcome you to Ulsoor Lake. One of the biggest lakes in Bangalore, Ulsoor Lake is located on the eastern side of the city and is named after the locality it is situated in--Ulsoor. Spread over 123.6 acres, it consists of several islands. Even though the lake is dated to Kempegowdas’ time, the present lake was created by Sir Lewin Bentham Bowring, the then Commissioner of Bangalore during later half of second century. It is a popular recreational and jogging spot for the locals. There is a park, boat club and a swimming pool within the premises. The lake also serves as the venue for the Ganesha Festival celebrated in August/September.
