The festival of Holi is an interesting and fun filled event. Holi is celebrated by applying colours and throwing water ballloons at each other. Here are some unknown facts about Holi that you might not know of:

1. The festival of colours signifies the victory of good over evil. The festival is celebrated differently in different states. Here is how to celebrate Holi in different ways.

2. The festival promotes unity and togetherness in the society bringing people from all caste and creed together. The celebration of Holi eliminates the stigma of inequality from the society.

3. The bonfire that is lit night before Holi burns all the bacteria and virus perpetuating around and makes the environment cleaner and healthier. The bonfire is the enactment of Holika and Prahlad signifying the triumph of good over evil.

4. The Holi colours that are applied to each other boosts our immune system and make us stronger for the coming season. One must use herbal colours on this day and stay away from harmful chemical colours.

5. On this day, some people consume bhaang, an edible preparation of cannabis leaves. The alcoholic drink tends to have some side effects and hence, the consumption of drink should be avoided.
