about jammu

Jammu, the winter capital of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, is most famously associated with the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, where pilgrims throng from all over India and the world to pay their respects. From an altitude, the town appears multi-hued, owing to the colourful flags at shrines and temples. Popular among adventure-sports enthusiasts, Jammu offers great opportunities for mountaineering, trekking and rafting. Celebrate Holi, Diwali and Lohri in Jammu style, and take home memories of a lifetime.
Yes, you will feel like you really have wings and can touch the sky by opting for Paragliding at Sanasar, Jammu and kashmir . Hop on to one of the paragliders, hang tight and join the chirping birds on their way to a tour of the splendid green conifer trees below.

For this breathtaking experience, travel to Sanasar, which is approximately 19 kms from Patnitop. You can take a bus or hire a taxi to reach this place. May to June and September to October is the ideal time for paragliding in Sanasar . If you are in for more outdoor activities, avail camping facilities in the cup-shaped meadow of Sanasar.
Jammu area has trekking routes, all of which are open in summer, though in winter there are very limited options for the same. Trekking at Doda is one of the many options for trekking in the city. Some travel agencies also organise trekking and camping tours. Trekking gears are a must. You can bring your own or save up for shopping and hire some equipments, etc., from the tourism office in Jammu city. When all is packed, start trailing on the mountainous path! And as this is one of the most exciting and interesting activities here, many hotels also arrange for trekking tours so it would be a nice idea to ask your hotel staff for any such facility.

One of the most famous trekking trails in the Jammu region is the Doda trek. Adventurous trails pass through the dense green forests and picturesque snow clad mountains of the Desa valley.
