Out for a sightseeing spree or a shopping and confused how to reach the place? Well, Hyderabad’s transport system is at your service to clear out the confusion and clear the road to your destination.

  • Autorickshaw

Just shout ‘auto’ and like a genie out of a bottle, it will pop out in front of you. Brightly coloured in yellow, it might seem like its been made just for you. But some autorickshaw drivers refuse to go by metre and it is advisable to take the help of traffic police in this situation. Otherwise, you can finalise the fare before you sit in the auto. INR 14 is the minimum fare which covers the first 1.6 km and for each additional km INR 8 will be added.

  • Taxi

Taxis are a better option when it comes to luxury and longer distances. To avail taxi service, bookings have to be made through their centralised booking service. The fare starts from INR 10 per km with a minimum amount of INR 80. The various centres providing this service are given below:

    Yellow Cabs:
    Telephone: +91-40-66906690

    Meru Cabs:
    Telephone: +91-40-44224422

  • Bus

Less expensive than taxis and autorickshaws, Hyderabad is easily accessible through its bus services run by the government, APSRTC. Most of the buses ply from Imlibun or Jubilee Bus Station and cover almost all parts of the city. If local buses are too crowded for you, you can always opt for the AC one with fare starting from INR 22. For directions, you can read the routes displayed inside the bus in English or ask the conductor. You can also confirmed with your hotel staff before going to the bus stand.

  • Train

If your time is somewhat limited and you want to travel to every possible part of the city during your short stay, MMTS, the local train service would be your best option. With frequency ranging from 10 minutes to 2 hours and offering daily and monthly passes, make the best use of this opportunity and enjoy a ride on the MMTS. For timings and fares, do check out their website.

  • Car

The independence of being one’s own master can never surpass any other feeling. And what can be more satisfying than driving around the city of pearls, with the steer under your own control, though this freedom has its price as traffic jams may at times hinder your ride. For car rentals, you will find it at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport itself or the following numbers will be at your service.

  • On Foot

Nothing can beat exploration on foot. Don’t you just wished Hyderabad was a little bit smaller! The crooked, narrow alleys of the Old City, in spite of its congested look, will accommodate you like your own home. Laad bazaar, Charminar, the pearl market- you will not be able to resist the temptation of stepping out of your taxi or vehicle and lose yourself in the midst of Hyderabad. For longer distances, opt for transport facilities but when it comes to nearby destinations that are adjacent to one another, the best option will be to sense every nook and corner on foot.

With so many options to take you on the Hyderabad tour, you will be more than happy to step out of your hotel and step into the hustle and bustle of the city. Be it on foot, by taxi or a car, the best will never come out until you actually start exploring.
