While the connectivity to Corbett is excellent, the National Park has few options for movement within its premises. How about experimenting with your ride when in Corbett. Read on and find out how!

  • Elephant Safari

When in the jungle, do it the jungle way! Hop onto the back of an elephant and make your way to the inner parts of the forests to increase your chances of a tiger sighting. A major part of the forest might be off vehicle limits, but says ‘aye' to elephants. Strap up and witness the Mahawat (Elephant Driver, if you please) maneuver the mighty beast right to tiger's abode. Now tell us, isn't this one better than the usual pull- your- car- out- of- the- garage and head- to- office?

There are two safaris that you can take in a day:
    Morning: 6 am-8 am
    Evening: 3 pm-5 pm
Charges: INR 3500 per elephant, with a seating capacity of 6 persons

  • Jeep Safari

Race through the empty tracks in the forests or move hushed when tracking a tiger, the Open Jeep Safaris in Corbett offer a thrilling ride. This is perhaps the most popular means of travelling around the National Park. Generally your hotel arranges the safari for you but you can also make your way to the Ticket Office at the gate and get yourself a ride. There are four forest zones in Corbett that you can cover on safaris, namely, Jhirana and Sitabani (open throughout the year) and Bijrani and Lohachaur (open between October and June). Having a government approved guide in your gypsy is an absolute must when you move around the Park, and one will join you after you have taken the permit at the Entry Gate.

  • Canter Safari

Like the open jeep safaris you can take here, there are also open Canter safaris you can enjoy in Corbett. These big machines accommodate up to 20 persons and are a blessing if you are in a big group. You can hop onto these Canters from either Ramnagar or Dhangari Gate, if you are carrying your ID proof.

    Morning: 6am-11am
    Evening: 1pm-4pm
    Charges: INR 1500 per person

  • Walking

Nothing beats walking around when in Corbett! Drag a huge whiff of the fresh mountain air in your chest and head out for a nice stroll in the lap of the jungly. However, avoid doing so once its dark as its gets unsafe. Try not to tread too far off the beaten path when here and spend some quiet time introspecting. The best part about walks has to be that not only are they healthy, they are free too!

For exploring areas around the Corbett Park it is best to walk, as the fresh forest air and lush greenery holds the charm to instantly soothe your city frenzied nerves. The bus system within the jungle isn't developed, so it is advisable to use your private vehicle or hire a taxi when travelling around. Ask your hotel staff for some assistance about the same and they will be glad to come to your service. Armed with this information, you are all set for a great holiday in the jungles of Corbett!
