Do hills call out for you? Do you get attracted by solitude and the beauty of Mother Nature? If yes, then Kasauli is the destination that you should plan your next vacation to. Close to
Shimla and Chandigarh, this small hill station is untouched by many and hence will give the ultimate getaway from the city that you have been wishing for since a long time.
Though small and secluded, Kasauli is very accessible and you can reach the place through different means.

  • By Air

Kasauli does not have an airport of its own for obvious reasons, but is very close to the airports in Shimla (around 35 km away) and Chandigarh (around 65 km away). So, reaching through airways is not a problem when Kasauli is the topic of discussion. Now, once you reach the airports, the town is accessible through the large number of taxis that are available from right outside the gates of the airport. The taxi people will charge you around INR 1500 for taking you to the verdant hills of Kasauli. However, it is upon your expertise as a bargainer if you can haggle over prices and make them accept less. Also, the airports in Shimla and Chandigarh are well connected by some major cities in the country such as Delhi, Mumbai, Srinagar and Kolkata.

  • By Train

If you are one of those who like to stay on the ground and enjoy every bit of the fresh air that planet Earthis left with, then travelling through trains is going to be the best option for you. Reaching Kasauli through trains is not a tough task at all. Though, there is no railway station in the town. The closest railway station is in Kalka which is around 40 km away from Kasauli. The railway station is well connected to some major cities such as Amritsar, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. To reach Kasauli from the railway station, you will have to take a cab or taxi which will charge you around INR 750 for the task. But remember to awaken up the bargainer in you!

  • By Road

You are a fan of the rustic feel that the
State Buses offer, right? Fair enough!! Try one of the many State owned buses that connect Kasauli to the adjoining areas in Himachal Pradesh and also other cities such as Chandigarh and Delhi. The buses have a fixed fare charges system which differs on the basis of the distance that you travel by bus. Their fares generally start from INR 300 per head. A quick tip, always keep an eye on your belongings and a check on where the buses are stopping if you are travelling through State or even private buses.

    Drive Down

If you are the one who likes to take control in his/her hands, then driving is your thing. We will give you some of the popular routes that almost connect Kasauli with some of the major destinations in the country. If you are driving from
Delhi, you should take NH 1 to Ambala, and cross Sonepat and Karnal. From Ambala, you will have to take NH 22 for Kasauli. This route will pass Zirakpur, Panchkula, Pinjore, Parwanoo, and Dharampur. Now from Dharampur, there is a narrow hill road that will take you to Kasauli.

Parwanoo, there is also a narrow hill road that will take you to Kasauli via Jangeshu,Manoan, and Mashobra. This particular road is a part of the very old Hindustan–Tibet Road which is under heritage protection.

Also, you can also hire a cab/taxi on the same route. The taxi people work on a per-km system but prices can be negotiated for longer routes. The roads in some of the stretches of the route are slippery and have sharp turning points, so be careful!

So many ways to reach this small package of extravagant beauty, which one are you going to take?
