What are the different modes to reach Mussoorie?

Reaching Mussoorie will not be a problem as it is well connected with all the modes of transportation. You can fly, enjoy a bus drive or catch a train whistling its way to Dehradun from where it hardly takes an hour to reach The Queen of Hills. To simplify your task of decision making, all the modes for traveling to Mussoorie are listed below.

  • RoadIf you have some time at hand and are driving by your own car, it preferable to take New Delhi- Modi Nagar- Khatauli- Purkaji- Roorkee- Chhutmalpur- Dehradun- Mussoorie route for the good roads and easily available facilities. Do stop at the renowned Shiv Mandir on your way and savour the delicious food, served for free inside the temple. An added delight!

    Traveling to Mussoorie by road will be easy as Mussoorie is well connected with many major cities. If you cannot find a direct bus from your starting point then do not worry as there are regular buses to Mussoorie from Dehradun at a regular interval of an hour. If you are not much comfortable traveling in a bus you can always hire a taxi from Dehradun-Mussoorie Bus Stand located just next to the Railways Station at Prince Chowk.

    A small piece of advice, take the tickets from the counter inside and not from the taxi drivers who will try to strike a bargain with you, as it might lead you into some uncalled trouble. Things done the right way fetch the maximum pleasure!

  • Rail
    Find those traffic jams immensely annoying and want to prevent them? Take a train to Dehradun as it is has the nearest railways station to Mussoorie. Just next to the railways station at Prince Chowk is the Dehradun-Mussoorie Bus Stand from where you can easily catch a bus which runs at regular intervals or take a Dehradun to Mussoorie taxi .

    It is hardly an hour drive from Dehradun to Mussoorie with beautiful landscape that will make you jump on your seats.

  • Air
    If you don't want to spend much time traveling and your budget allows then you can fly to Jolly Grant which is the nearest airport to Dehradun. You'll have to plan your trip in advance as there are no regular flights to Jolly Grant. Located at a distance of 60 kms from this airport, you will have to take a taxi to reach Mussoorie. You can also take Uttarakhand State Road Transport Corporation buses that stop in front of Airport Gate.

    Try to book your bus or train tickets on priority basis and if you are keen on flying then you can always take flight to Jolly Grant.
