The lanes at Ahmedabad are usually bustling with curious onlookers and city residents. Thankfully, commuting within the city isn’t a tough task and you’ve got plenty of options to choose from:

  • Walking

Let your tour be in the true navigator’s spirit by commuting the old way. Trust me, there’s nothing better than taking a walk when it comes to discovering the wonders of the Old City. The lanes in that part of the city are dotted with some of the best eateries, specially for the non vegetarians, and walking will help you discover all those at leisure.

  • Auto Rickshaw

One of the best means to trace the roads at Ahmedabad is an auto rickshaw, an option that’s quite economical as well. You can easily get one for around INR 1000 for a whole day of sightseeing in Ahmedabad. The auto drivers know the city and all its charms like the back of their hands and won’t mind playing guide for you. They often come up with interesting insights about the ways and culture of the city and its surroundings.

  • Bus

If travelling and hobnobbing with the locals is your idea of a perfect tour, hop on to a bus that’s run by the Ahmedabad Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS). These state run buses are a part of a plush fleet that connects all the major points across the city, including Kankaria Lake, Maninagar Railway Station, Dani Limbda, Narol, Dilli Darwaja and more. The only flip side of city buses is that the bus numbers are written in Gujarati and you may have trouble discerning the one you wish to.

Apart from these, you can always hail a taxi to have your fill of sightseeing. It’ll save you the unnecessary hail if you book one for the whole of your trip. Another plus of getting a taxi is the drivers who, often, have an anecdote or two about the places. Well, whatever you may choose to have a dekko at Ahmedabad, this city won’t disappoint you, for there’s so much in its folds.
