One of the best things about Jamnagar is the fact that it has, somehow, managed to save itself from the glaring, luring lights of heavy tourist influx. Thus, it’s got an old world charm of its own that reflects in everything here, including the modes of transport within the city. If you are thinking of the travel options within the city precincts, you can try:

  • Auto Rickshaw

If sharing space with the friendly locals while sightseeing is your cup of tea, auto rickshaws ought to be your pick. Charging a minimal amount of INR 10 or somewhere near it, rickshaw drivers will be more than obliging with some interesting details about the architecture or culture of the place. Town Hall and the area around it is the best place to get an auto.

  • Taxi

With a bit of haggling, you can hire a taxi to navigate across Jamnagar. But do remember that it’s a fairly small city and is best accessible by an auto rickshaw or state run buses, so spending more on a taxi isn’t a wise decision. Yet, if comfortable travelling is what you are looking for, it’s always advisable to opt for taxis, which keep you away from all the dust and pollution that’s in the air of most of Gujarat.

  • Bus

You can also hop aboard the State run buses to commute within Jamnagar. Quite affordable and running at frequent intervals, you can catch one at Town Hall. These buses connect most of the landmarks and are perfect if you wish to get in the midst of all action, sharing seats with locals.

Jamnagar, being a small city in terms of geographical area, can easily be explored on foot as well. And if walking doesn’t sound exciting enough to you, there are plenty of options to move around.
