What are the different ways to reach Dalhousie?

So, have you already starting packing and waiting eagerly to set foot on the wonderful hilly terrains of Dalhousie? Wait a bit, friends. Do have a look at the various modes of transport available for you to reach Dalhousie. We give you a brief idea-

  • By Air

    Pathankot happens to be the nearest airport, at a distance of about 80 km. However, Pathankot is directly connected only to the city of Delhi.
    On the other hand, the
    Jammu Airport is situated some 180 km away from the town, but connects most of the major cities of Northern India such as Delhi, Amritsar and Jammu. Daily Air India and Jet Airways flights ply to and from these cities and cost anywhere between INR 3000 to INR 5000.
    A taxi from the airport to the town will charge around INR 2200.

  • By Train

    If you don't want the journey to sit too heavy on your budget, and also want to enjoy the marvellous sights as you travel to Dalhousie, then a train journey is a very good option.
    Pathankot railway station happens to be some 80 km away from Dalhousie. It is connected to most of the major cities in India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad. You can board a taxi from the station to reach Dalhousie which may cost you somewhere between INR 800 to INR 1200. Since you are likely to find a lot of options in taxis, you will have the luxury of bargaining over the fares.

  • By Bus

    Buses ply frequently between Pathankot and Dalhousie, and cost a meagre INR 70. A bus from Kangra to Dalhousie will cost you around INR 150 and afford you very pleasant scenic views along your journey.
    Be careful of wearing warm woolens during your journey as the chilly breeze is very likely to make you a bit uncomfortable. You may interact with the locals and gather further tips for your stay in Dalhousie.
