Reaching Panchgani is no problem at all. Even though the hill station do not have any rail head or an airport in the city, there are airports and railheads in the nearby metro cities like Pune and Mumbai. A drive from these cities to Panchgani is fun and one can enjoy the picturesque scenery on the way. The following are the different modes to reach the hill town:

  • By Air
    To reach Panchgani by air, you could either take a flight to Pune or to Mumbai, since there is no airport in the city. Pune airport, however, is the nearer one to the hill station being only 100 kilometers away than Mumbai which is 285 kilometers. From major cities like Bangalore and Mumbai, Pune is directly accessible . Once you reach Pune airport you can travel to Panchgani either by a taxi or by a bus.

  • By Car
    A road trip to Panchgani is very enjoyable. You can soak in the enticing scenery along the way while travelling. Landing in Mumbai would be the best bet because the scenic beauty is better. You can easily hire taxis from the international or the domestic airports in Mumbai. The taxi will take you directly from mumbai to Panchgani. This would cost somewhere around INR 3000 to INR 5000, depending on the car that you hire.
    It would take anywhere between three to four hours to reach Panchgani, depending on the speed at which you drive, the weather and the traffic blocks if any might also be a influencing factor. You can also take a taxi from Pune to Panchgani, which would cost you around INR 2100.

  • By Bus
    A bus ride to Panchgani is also a decent way traverse, it is cheaper than cabs and scenery compliments all the way. You can take a bus either from Pune or from Mumbai according to your convenience. Not just the state run, government buses, but also there are private players who shuttle from Pune to Panchgani and Mumbai to Panchgani. A bus ride from Pune will cost you around INR 300. The rates for the route from Mumbai to Panchgani will be a tad bit higher. The travel time is approximately four hours.

  • By Rail
    If you are based in Mumbai then you can take a train ride from till Pune. Panchgani, unfortunately does not have a train station. In Mumbai, there are three boarding station for the trains to Pune. You can either take the train departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) or the Dadar Terminus (DR).
