What are the different ways to reach Shirdi?

1 person found this answer useful Useful ?Yes

Now that all has been decided and sealed, travelling to Shirdi is a still a confusion left unresolved, isn't it? That's all right. Ours is a fast developing country and the increasing means of transport are continually serving to make our lives easier. Let us discuss what all options you can choose-

  • By Air

Nashik, which is 75 km away, is the nearest airport to Shirdi, from where you can board a taxi to Shirdi. The Mumbai Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport, facilitating both domestic as well as international flights, is approximately 296 km and a private cab from there will cost you around INR 6000, though you may obviously try bargaining over the fares. The domestic airport at Pune is about 231 km away.

  • By Train

The nearest railway station happens to be Kopergaon, 16 km away from the main city. Since this is a fairly new station, few trains come here. The more popular choice for those travelling to Shirdi is by going to Manmad Station, from where buses and taxis are available to do the  60 km distance. Within the temple premises itself, there is a facility of computerized railway ticket booking, which allows you to make train bookings for any region across India.

  • By Road

Shirdi is located on the Ahmedabad-Manmad Express Highway, and several buses and cars/cabs ply through this route from various cities of Maharashtra. Buses obviously are the cheapest option available, and the AC buses will be comfortable too.

Make your pick judiciously, keep your eyes open to the sights that greet you on your way to Shirdi, and have a happy journey!
