Do you enjoy celebrations and being a part of it? If yes, then the city will surprise you with its colorful and frolic festivals. Haridwar offers visitors a rich array of events and festivals throughout the year that highlight its unique cultural identity and history. Here are the famous events and festivals of Haridwar.

  • Kumbh and Ardh Kumbh

Kumbh and Ardh Kumbh are the two celebrations which make you realise how big a celebration can get. Celebrated every 12 years, Kumbh Mela is awaited by the pilgrims for long before they get a chance to dip in the holy waters of the Ganges and wash all their sins away. It is believed that once you take a dip in the holy waters during the mela, you are going to get moksha, the ultimate salvation. The celebrations though are a treat, they can be really risky. Try and avoid being in the centre of the mob as stampedes and other chaotic experiences are very usual for the Mela. Ardh Kumbh Mela is a celebration on the same lines but is celebrated every six years.

  • Deepawali

This is the festival which, like in every part of the country, is celebrated with grandeur and extravagance in Haridwar too. The floating lights at the Ghats on the night of the festival is one sight that you would not want to miss at any cost. The Laxmi Pujan is another intriguing part of the celebration which is attended by hundreds and thousands of people.

  • Holi

The festival of colour is another one which marks the extent of festive fervour at its best. By the evening, the young and the old smearing gulal on each other transform town into a multi coloured canvas that is a sight in itself.

These festivals add bright color to the landscape of Haridwar, don't they? So come and be a part of the rich culture and tradition of the city of celebrations.
