Settled amidst the Himalayas, the beauty of Kathmandu is complemented by an unending number of tourist sites that can be be enjoyed by you. To be entertained to the fullest while on your trip to Kathmandu here are few tips that you should keep in mind:

  • The currency of Nepal is Nepali Rupee (NPR). The travelers coming from other countries require to pay for the airline tickets in their respective country's currency. This is due to the shortage of hard currency in Nepal.

  • On arrival the foreign tourists are provided Visas for which one passport size photograph is required. A fee has to be paid with for this service preferably in US Dollars and the transit varies according to the length of the stay.

  • The climate of Kathmandu is moderate, in Summers it varies from 36°C to 22°C and during Winters 18°C to 0°C. Thus if you wish to visit the place in the winters do expect the chills and make sure to you pack warm clothes.

  • The nearest airport to the city is the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. It is better to fly down to the city since there is no nearby train station.

  • The official language of the city is Nepali and the indigenous languages include Nepali Bhasa and Maithali. However you can choose to talk to the people in English, which is easily understood by the local educated people.

  • If you plan to visit Nepal during the peak seasons i.e October and November make sure that you book your flight tickets and accommodation in advance, since it is usually in very high demand.
