There are a number of places worth seeing around the quiet hill station of Lansdowne. We have listed out a few must places to visit in Lansdowne down below.

Lover's Lane (A few km from the main town)

This is one of the best treks around Lansdowne. One side of the trek gives amazing views of the majestic Himayalas and the lush valleys below, while on the other side lies a dense forest of oaks and blue pine trees. If you make it here, during the spring season, the valley is especially beautiful with wildflowers blooming everywhere adding bright splashes of colour to the whole vista. Moreover, the thick forests around Lansdowne are perfect for a Jungle Safari or forest walks.

Tarkeshwar Mahadev temple (39 km from the town)

Believed to be a 'Siddhapeeth' (ancient holy site), this is one of the most revered temples in India. Dedicated to Lord shiva, the temple rests on top of a hill within a forest. An idol of a dancing Shiva is established within the temple. There is a small pond nearby in which the devotees immerse themselves before visiting the temple. Surrounded by towering devdar trees (Himalayan Cedar) and small streams, with the only sounds that reach your ears are the chirping or birds or an occasional peal of the temple bells, there is an untouched and calming quality about this place. Even if you are not religiously inclined, you can visit this place to see the natural beauty surrounding the temple.

Durga Devi Temple (24 km from the town)

Another Siddhapeeth, the Durga devi temple is located on the banks of the Khoh river, within a cave. Dedicated to Goddess Durga, the temple attracts a fair number of devotees throughout the year. A small stream flows beneath the temple. There is not much that you can do here, but if you are looking for a quiet place with surrounding natural beauty, this place fits the bill.

Kanvashram (14 km from the town)

A treat to nature lovers, this is another quiet spot brimming with natural beauty. Located on the banks of the Malini river, this is a popular excursion spot for tourists seeking more places to visit beyond the boundary of Lansdowne. The road to this ashram goes through hilly terrains and thick forests, which makes the trip itself quite adventurous. It is said that Shakuntala after being deserted by King Dushyant, takes shelter in this ashram and gives birth to Bharat, who later goes on to become the King. This is the reason why India is also called 'Bharat'.

We hope that answers your query. Have fun exploring around Lansdowne. Bon Voyage!
