The food culture of Gwalior is laden with both spicy as well as sweet dishes. And, for a food-enthusiast, the food items here are sure to make his mouth water. Some of the famous food items of Gwalior are as follows.

  • Samosa and Kachori
    For many Gwaliorites, a typical breakfast comprises of irresistibly tasty and hot kachoris, pakoras and samosas accompanied with peppered chutneys and potato curries.

  • S.S. Kachoriwala (Telephone: +91-751-2321771), located in Naya Bazaar, is especially famous for yummy kachoris and samosas in the city,and locals and tourists regularly assemble here.
  • Jalebi and Rabdi
    While on the one hand, people of Gwalior would relish delicacies like samosa and kachoris, on the other hand, they like to indulge their sweet tooth in the amazing jalebis and rabdi which are available in plenty in Gwalior.
  • There are several shops in Naya Bazaar which serve awesome jalebis and rabdi, one being S.S. Kachoriwala. Try laddoos at Bahdura Sweets in this market. Also check out Chhatri Bazaar to find more options. A kilogram of jalebis should cost you anywhere between INR 60 to INR 100.
  • Morena Gajak
    This crunchy sweet prepared from sugar, jaggery, sesame seeds and til is available in winters. Also, you must buy a good amount to take back home for relatives and friends.
  • Gazak is best available at Daulat Ram shop in the city. Panchhiraj Foods, situated in Phalka Bazar, is a wholesale store that deals in amazing gazaks and chhikki. Per kilogram of gazak should cost somewhere around INR 150.

Apart from these, you must also try cashew barfis here which are amazingly delectable.
