We know you are already weaving plans to go knocking on the welcoming doors of Dalhousie. And once you are there, the excitement will refuse to die away. So, let us list for you some indispensable things that you must do when in Dalhousie.

Adventure

  • If you go during the peak season, that is, during summer, do view the snow-capped mountains at high altitudes, especially at Bakrota Hills, located some 5 km away from Dalhousie. They are truly a sight to behold, and easier to access in summer.
  • The famous horse carriages plying all around the city can be tried for recreation. They will remind you of the timeless charm of the old days. However, they are not efficient and can't be used as a means of transport.
  • A trek from Panch Pulla to Dainkund will be a very pleasant one, especially for the ones seeking adventures.
Also you should try a 6 km trek to
Dainkund Peak, which takes approximately 3 hours. The best time will be between the months of May and November.

    Religion
  • Do visit the oldest shrine in the area, St. John Church. Built in the year 1863, the amazing stone and glass work stills retains a Victorian glamour.

    Around Dalhousie
  • Do pay a visit to Khajjiar, also called the Mini Switzerland of Himachal Pradesh. It provides options for so many adventurous activities such as horse-riding,paragliding, etc for both adults and children alike.
  • The very beautiful and famous Kalatope Wildlife Sanctuary will be a dream destination for wildlife enthusiasts. Do look for 'ghoral' and Himalayan black bear, considered the most exotic of the species here.

    What's Special
  • If you are interested in the history, art and culture of Himachal Pradesh, then you can visit the famous Bhuri Singh Museum, which remains open from 10am to 5pm throughout the year except on holidays and Mondays.
  • If you are fond of collecting souvenirs from places you visit, then the Tibetan Market will provide you with a variety of options such as woolens, carpets and jewellery, apart from many other local handicrafts.

So, now that you have a lot of activities and places firmly fixed in your list, do not wait any further. Head for Dalhousie, a small paradise, soon.
