So you’re thinking that the only things you can do in Nainital are eat, sleep and just soak in the nature. You might want to rethink, for like most popular tourist destinations, Nainital too has a plethora of activities which its visitors can indulge in. Some of the popular things you can do on your trip to Nainital are:

  • Boating

The eye-shaped Naini Lake offers a perfect setting for a laid-back and calm boat ride. You’ll find several boating guides and operators at Mallital, near the Naina Devi temple, who will offer to take you for differing durations of boating trips, from one end of the lake to the other. Unpack those cameras and be ready to capture some breathtaking, natural surroundings, while a cold, chilly breeze envelops you.

Fee: Around INR 150 for adults, INR 100 for children

  • Trekking

Nainital offers several exciting opportunities for some amazing trekking, which are popular among tourists and locals alike. You could choose to trek from Mallital to Tallital, walking the length of the whole of Nainital. The trek to Tiffin Top (also known as Dorothy’s Seat) is also a popular trek route, which is a 4 km hike from the centre of town. A trek to the highest peak in this region, Naina Peak (or China Peak) is known for being challenging, covering a distance of 6 kms from Mallital. The peak offers a commanding view of the mountains, as well as the town of Nainital below.

  • Cable Car

Take a trip to the scenic Snow View Point and if you’re lucky, you might be able to spot the famous peaks of Nanda Devi, Trisul and Nanda Kot on a clear day. The charges for the cable car ride allow you to stay at the point for an hour. Keep your camera batteries charged and take home a wealth of memories.

Fee: INR 150 for adults, INR 75 for children
    Timings: 10am to 5pm

With so much to do, you’re sure to have your itineraries jam-packed, and perhaps, making you wish that you could stay longer in Nainital!
