This heavenly abode nestled in the laps of surreal nature is certainly a traveller's delight. Adventure, art, nature and spirituality, you have everything you need. The rich and enriching culture of Mcleodganj will envelop you with its charming aura.
Plan your days well and set out to discover this magical town. Don't forget your cameras for a truck load of memories.

  • Dal Lake

Situated 2 km away from the main market, Dal Lake is an immensely picturesque spot. The oval shaped lake is surrounded by lush, green deodar trees and small hills. The lake is also the starting point for most small treks. Head up on craggy trekking trails for a little adventurous rush.
You could also indulge in some
boating though the water isn't all that clean. If boating isn't on your mind, set out on small walks amongst tall trees and the soft chirping of birds. To visit the lake, all you need to do is hire an auto from the main bus stand. The ride will take you about 15 minutes and should not cost you more than INR 80. Make sure you carry your camera lest you miss out on some wonderful memories.

  • Triund

Majestic mountains call out to you. Set out on this exciting trek and you will not be disappointed. On the enthralling 9 km trek you will cross the rugged villages of Rakkar and Dharamkot. Stop for a fulfilling and delicious plate of maggie and a steaming cup of tea at the roadside dhabbas.
The trek to the peak is certainly worth all the huffing and puffing. Offering you a gorgeous view of the entire range and the deep valley below, Triund is surrounded in surreal and breathtaking beauty. With
small campsites at the top, you can plan a camp night amongst the wonders of nature.
    The trek takes upto
8 hours and is slightly strenuous. Make sure to carry a warm jacket, a umbrella or a raincoat for unpredictable rains showers.

  • Bhagsu Falls

The cascading waterfall is a sight to treasure. Amidst overpowering hills, refreshing greenery and craggy rocks, the Bhagsu falls is certainly a pleasure to visit.
    Located at
Bhagsu, the falls hold reverence for devotees visiting the Bhagsu Natth temple.
Situated about 2 km from the main market, you can either take an auto or walk to Bhagsu. The narrow, winding roads leading to the temple offer surprising sights of nature. Enveloped in peace and tranquility, Bhagsu is a certainly a delight to visit.
After a long day of sightseeing, sit in for a lavish meal at any of the roadside eateries.

With such spectacular sites awaiting you, Mcleodganj isn't too far. Don't forget your sturdy pair of sneakers for the strenuous walk on hilly terrains and you are all set.

I feel, another place needs to be mentioned here; that is Dharamkot. Your journey will be incomplete without visiting that place. Dal Lake for me is nothing but a stretched pond with putrefied water. Bhagsu falls and Triund are worth to visit; in fact, if somebody can't manage to trek up to Triund, even a trail up to the upper Dharamkot or Dharamgiri is worth to visit to see Dhauladhar panorama. It is actually a resting point on the way to Triund from Dharamkot. I have given some link to of my images I captured there.
