Get ready to be bowled over by the scenic beauty and spectacular views of Gangtok. Here are a few must do things in one of the most popular hill station, famous for its untouched natural beauty that offer a unique traveling experience.


  • Ropeway Cable Car

    One of the major tourist attraction in Gangtok, it is a must see as tourists can have a breathtaking view of this city during this ride. It definitely is a memorable experience for you and your family. The ropeway ride has three terminal stations and you can choose to start your ride any of the convenient points in Tashiling, Namnang or Deorali. It is offered throughout the day between 8 am to 4.30 pm at very nominal charges of INR 60 per head and INR 30 for children below six years. You'll have to shell out INR 60 for video camera. Even though the ride is not included in official tours, but its worth going.


  • Be adventurous

    For an adventure enthusiast, this place offers much sought after adventure sports ranging from white water rafting on the River Teesta to mountain biking through testing but negotiable terrain to mountaineering on the snow-clad Himalayas. You can also enjoy Yak safari and Hang Gliding. Sikkim is an ideal destination for travelers in quest of fascination or adventure and provides naturally the sites for trekking, mountaineering and camping. Best time to enjoy these sports are the months of March to May and October to December.


  • Local Treats

    The foodie in you will not go disappointed from this place as it offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian delectable dishes. From local food stalls to five star dining, Gangtok has it all to suit everyone's pocket. Relish Indian, Chinese and Tibetan cuisine along with wide range of local food stuff. Momos and Thukpas are the most popular and easily available dishes that taste great. Try places like Thalung, Roll House, Tibet cafe and Tangerine Restaurant to appease your taste buds.

    Explore gangtok as a spiritual getaway with its aesthetically built monasteries coexisting with the temples. While the majestic Rumtek monastery is one the most revered monasteries in India, the Enchey monastery is Sikkim's oldest.
