Wondering what are the things that you cannot miss to do when in the holy town of Haridwar? If yes, then the next set of information is going to help you a lot. There are a plenty of things that you can do in Haridwar but the top ones are:

  • Become a part of the Evening Aarti
You must have seen the magnanimous visuals of the evening Aarti at Harki Pauri, now honestly don't you want to be a part of it? Yes! right? Well, how? Just go to any shop around the ghat that sells the floating diyas and step down nearest to the river, enjoy the aarti and at the end, make your tiny little diya a member of the already floating gang. It's as simple as that. But before that, please make sure that you do not give your safety a second hand treatment. You would not want this to be the last thing that you do, right?

  • Enjoy the local food
While roaming around through the lanes of this old town, don't miss onto trying every local food item that is on display in the market. Whether it is the hot jalebi, or warm Badam milk, or it is tasting the pickles and chutneys that are in abundance, you will love it all. Do not miss to try the cold Kulfi Faluda which is a treat to many senses at once. Take away some of the churan golis and aam papads of different varieties.

  • Join a Yoga Club
There are several ashrams in Haridwar that organise yoga camps for different durations. One of the most famous is the one at
Gayatri Tirth - Shantikunj. Located on the Dehradun Road, they organise a Personality Development Camp using Scientific Spirituality i.e. Yoga, Yagna, Meditation, Prayer, Motivational Seminar, Workshop, Song and art of living. The camp needs a registration to be done in advance as it is often full throughout the year. This camp is organised in three schedules of the dates 1-9, 11-19, 21-29 every month throughout the year.

You can also try the camps at
Divya Yog Mandir Trust University which is located around 16 km from the main town but is extremely famous being founded by Ramdev Baba.

  • Udan Khatola
While in Haridwar, one should not miss a ride on the Udan Khatola. One of the most intriguing attractions of the place, Udan Khatola is often termed as the ropeway to God. Operational in the area where the Chandi Devi temple is located, this is a ride which is not for the faint-hearted. The ride has been serving people for more than a decade now and saves all the time and energy that you would invest if you decide to climb the steep mountains for reaching the temple atop the hill range. Once you are in the khatola, you can enjoy an extraordinary view of the Ganges and the entire town of Haridwar sitting in the lap of the beautiful Himalayas.

Who would have thought that there are so many places to visit in Haridwar, such a small town, right? Well, it is true but, Haridwar is surely a big wonder in a small package.
