Wondering what all is hot and happening in Jodhpur? If you are looking forward to burning some calories in this trip, Jodhpur has some pretty cool options to help you with that and at the same time, give you the time of your life. Here are some stuff that you can do in Jodhpur.

  • Safaris
Take your pick from the number of safari options available here. Be it the village tours to familiarise you with the way the locals live or the wildlife safaris or the desert safaris. Bishnoi village is the most popular destination for village safaris. the Bishnois are are old sect of Rajasthan, known for their nature loving ideals. The origin of the Chipko movement (a mass movement against deforestation) can be traced back to them. These village safaris give the tourist a close and personal view of the rich cultural heritage of this group. Marwar Eco Cultural Tours and Travels is a recommended private operator. The wildlife safaris take you on an exploration of the rich biodiversity of the area. Dhawa Doli and Machiya Safari Park are some popular destination for such trips. For the desert safari, you have a choice of doing it on camelback, horseback or in Jeeps. No matter how you go about it, exploring the vast barren beauty of the desert and crossing of huge shifting sand dunes is definitely worth putting on your list of ‘things to do before I die’. Osian is a very popular spot for desert safaris. One can also explore the various temple architecture on such trips. You also have a choice between day and night safaris. Manwar Desert Camps and Resorts are recommended for giving you the ultimate experience of desert living. Most probably your hotel might also organise safaris for its guests. Confirm and compare the prices before you book the trip.

  • Sand dune campings
With a vast ocean of silent dunes stretching on for miles, interrupted by clumps of desert greens and days filled with poetic sunrises and sunsets, these day and night camps give you the real picture of how the desert people live. You don’t just see it, you live it! Except you won’t be exactly roughing it out! Well-appointed tents which can be as decadent as you wish, live song and dance performances by the desert people, huge campfires, and if you are feeling exceptionally adventurous, there are night safaris available to satisfy your appetite. Trust us, you will be talking about this experience for the rest of your life, or till someone asks you to shut up. Manwar Desert Camps and Resorts, Camp Dera Eco and Camp Oasis Osian are the popular choices for organising such trips. We suggest taking a friend or family along, as it can be quite lonely in there.

  • Adventure activities
For some truly exhilarating experiences, try the Zip-line tours organised by the Flying fox, which generally operate during September to May and start from the Mehrangarh Fort.
