So, has the fascinating culture and towering forts of Gwalior been inviting you since the past few days? Well, this is a lucrative proposal. However, being extra smart as a traveller is sure to fetch you that extra bit of joy. We give you some important tips on that front.

  • Weather and Nature

The summer months (between March and June) are very hot over here, and may put off your mood. So, try visiting this place during winters (October, November, February, March). Remember to pack in sufficient woollens.

  • Journey

If you are not particularly fond of public transport and wish to have private tours around the city with family or friends, Gwalior has many car rental services to cater to your needs as per your budget. These agencies must be contacted in advance so that you don’t have last-minute hassles to deal with when you reach there. If you are looking for a car on rent, you can contact Savaari rentals at its toll-free helpline: 1800-108-1000. Per kilometre of travel may cost you anywhere between INR 8 to INR 20, depending on the type of car you are renting.

  • Stay/ Eat

In certain tourist-friendly seasons, the hotels in Gwalior may be already booked in advance. It is advisable that you make a booking in advance, especially if you are looking for a stay in particular hotel, before you arrive in Gwalior. Do not miss the special samosas and kachoris at SS Kachoriwala in Naya Bazaar. Try laddoos and jalebis at Bahdura Sweets in this market

  • Sightseeing

Since Gwalior is very famous for its handicrafts and jewellery industry, some shopkeepers may try to sell you inauthentic or adulterated stuff. Always try to visit trusted, reputed shops. For example, for jewellery, you can try Mangalam Jewellers and Tanishq in Sarafa Bazaar. If you are looking for a guide to lead you through the wonders in Gwalior, it’s advisable that you do so in advance because you might not find one here once you have arrived which may dampen your spirits.

  • General

Lastly, do not forget to keep some emergency numbers handy. Here are some-
Police Station, Jhansi Road : +91-751-2445231
    Gwalior Hospital : +91-751-2364298
    The Tourism Office : +91-0751-4040777

As soon as you finish reading this, go to that suitcase lying in that corner and begin packing. Gwalior will greet you with open arms.
