As a virtue of falling in the lands of folklores - Rajasthan - Ajmer has got a very interesting neighborhood. There’s plenty in this hinterland and if you are a traveller in the real sense, don’t forget to explore:

  • Pushkar

At just 14.9 kms from Ajmer, Pushkar is the star attraction of the region. It looks like a sleepy lakeside settlement, but far from being sleepy, the unnerving energy here is something that you’ll remember for ages. Mainly a holy place, it houses the famous Pushkar Lake and Brahma Temple, which is the only temple dedicated to Hindu god, Brahma, in the whole world. There are many other famous temples at Pushkar Every November, a riot of colours and festivities breaks out at Pushkar, for that’s the time for Pushkar Fair, world’s largest camel fair. It’s believed that a dip in the holy lake during the fair can rid a person of all his sins!

  • Kishangarh

Famous for its miniature paintings, Kishangarh is a less explored place. Most of its attractions lie unexplored and being away from the public glare that lends this place a lure of its own. Roopnagar Fort and Phoolmahal Palace are the star attractions of this place. And to put it in the correct words “time warp” is what awaits you here. A drive of just 30 minutes from Ajmer will have you in this captivating world.

A part of the golden triangle, Jaipur hardly needs any introduction. Other than a fascinating past that saw the royals playing polo and courting rajput princesses, there’s much on the Jaipur platter. Don’t miss a visit at Amber Fort, Jal Mahal, Nahargarh Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Hawa Mahal, the all so fascinating City Palace and lots more. You can reach Jaipur in a 1.5 hour drive on SH 140 from Ajmer.

And if you are on a true backpacker’s trip, exploring the whole of Rajasthan, Jodhpur is another destination that you can cover. This drive will take you 3 hours from Ajmer, down the scenic NH 112. Make the most out of your Ajmer trip, explore!
