Though Port Blair is endowed with so many attractions that you can't narrow down your itinerary to just a few places, it's always better to put in a bit of research. Having witnessed much of India's struggle from British rule, the city has got quite a few centres of attraction. Let's check out what all you can expect from the place:


  • Cellular Jail

No trip to Port Blair can be complete without a visit to this one. It served as the colonial prison, much dreaded and famously known as Kala Pani. It housed Indian prisoners, who were exiled by the British Government. Its foundation was laid in the year 1896 and rebels from all over India, Burma and Karachi were exiled for life in this prison. It was taken over by Japanese troops in 1942 during WW II, and in a surprise turn, saw many British troops as inmates. Many lores about the Japanese atrocities on the still do the rounds here. Turn over a leaf or two of an interesting historical past by coming in for a dekko at this place on your tour.

  • Corbyn's Cove

One of the most visited of all beaches, Corbyn's Cove is an essential on any traveller's itinerary for its sheer beauty. At a distance of just about 5 kms from the city, it sits prettily by the crashing sea waves. Watch the Sun diving beneath the glittering waters, reddening the sky in a mesmerising way. A major attraction at Port Blair, this zoo houses species that are limited to the Andamans. With over 200 unique species, it's a must visit place for wildlife enthusiasts. Anthropological Museum will give you an insider's view on the diverse tribal past of the region.   • Samudrika Marine Museum

This museum is being taken care of by the Indian Navy.
