  • The first touristy thing to do in a foreign city is to lay your hands on a map. Street names in Bangkok can be very confusing, so consult your map or stop by and ask locals. It comes in very handy to plan out your day in advance when roaming around Bangkok as then you can also make optimum use of the BTS and MRT connectivity.

  • Always carry water with you. When in a tropical country, especially when your are travelling, it is crucial to keep you body well hydrated. Browsing through markets, exploring monument and even your quest for a slice of the divine will sap you, so make sure you keep up the water intake.
  • Over friendly locals might actually be trying to sell their ware to you. What should you do? Steer clear of them, make it clear that you are not interested or simply walk past.

  • Bargaining is a rule, but make sure you do it the soft way. A polite demeanour is bound to bag you a better deal, promise!

  • Always carry a photocopy of your passport and hotel visiting card, preferably one in Thai language. You will thank us in your hearts when your repeated efforts to explain your address are simplified by this simple card.

  • Don't worry and dig into the street food of the place! Its healthy and you can really do with saving up the money you would have splurged on fine dining. Isn’t it another excuse to go shopping?

    Always insist on metre in taxis and don't forget to bargain with the tuk tuk guys either.
