Travelling to a new destination is always an exciting affair. Make sure you don't miss out on the best parts of the city - the best eating joints, the special sightseeing spots and the best markets for the shopaholic in you. Leh has plenty on its platter to satisfy travellers. Stack your kitty with important tips and have a blast in this lovely city.

  • Altitude

Located at a high altitude of 3524 metres, the atmosphere around Leh is pretty thin. Due to this, you tend to get breathless very soon and this may even lead to medical complications. It is strongly advised to give your body at least a day's time to acclimatize when you are in Leh and try to not exert yourself too much physically at any point of the trip.

It is advisable to stack up energy bars and chocolates as the sweet in these quickly dissolves in your body, instantly increasing energy levels.

  • Clothing

Even though the weather may be hot during the summers, it is advisable to carry along your woollens as at most places of tourist interest it tends to be windy and cold. In winters, do make it a point to carry those heavy woolens you have burried in your closet, this is the time when they come handy.

Since the terrain here is rough and rocky, it is a good idea to carry sturdy sports shoes when headed here.

  • Climate

It is advisable to visit Leh in the months between April and September as the temperatures here treat you the best during these times. Winters are harsh, dry and merciless and travelling is a problem as most passes and roads are closed during these times.

  • Hotels

As most hotels are operational only between May and September, it is advisable to confirm your booking in advance rather than just landing up here in Leh. Since this is a remote locale, many places do not accept credit cards, so it is advisable to carry hard cash with you.

  • Alcohol

Although you might want to take a sip to warm up when in Leh, it is best to desist from the idea as it can interfere with your body and lead to low oxygen level, causing breathing complications.

Keep the above in mind, lose your worries, pack up your bags and head to Leh for the aesthetic treat of a lifetime.
