Cultural heritage of Kochi is known to all to be very rich. Performing arts is a vital part of the culture of the city. The city boasts of numerous art complexes that offer wonderful opportunities for you to experience the cultures and art forms of the city. With the largest number of regular evening Kathakali theaters, the traditional dance-drama of the Kerala art form become worth watching.   • Kerala Fine Arts Complex

    Located on the Foreshore Road, this is one of the oldest and reputed performing art centres in Kochi. They held regular cultural performances that are quite popular in the city. Most of them require prior booking and are usually organised by prestigious societies and groups. You can also attend the monthly Bank Employees Union show which has free entry. There are also other shows with free entry, however keep looking out for the ones that are organised by the famous groups because they usually capture the best ones.

  • Kalikotta

    This cultural center is located in the Palace road of Tripunithura. It is the official concert palace hall of the Kochi royal family. They are the patrons of more than a dozen cultural institutions and societies. Here most performances have free entry. The mega Kathakali festival organized just before the Temple festival of Tripunithura Poornathrayeesa Royal temple is one of the largest Kathakali events here.

  • See India Foundation

    See India Foundation is solely an evening Kathakali theatre, with daily performances take place from 6pm to 8pm. It is the oldest Kathakali theatre in India and also the first one to come up with the idea of evening performances. The performances are followed by a detailed discourse of Kathakali history along with the philosophy behind it. It is further accentuated by the elaborate make-up performances and a demonstration of Kathakali techniques which add another charm to the place.
