What are the visa regulations for any Indian travelling to Colombo?

We won’t stress on the importance of following the guidelines for obtaining the Sri Lankan visa. You had better follow them to the letter, as any discrepancy might lead to staring at the walls of the Colombo Airport for hours, followed by a plane ride back home. Indian passport holders can obtain a tourist visa valid up to 30 days. And now coming to the best part - you can now avail you Sri Lankan visa online! Great, isn’t it?

Sri Lankan Government has decided to move on to an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system, which technically doesn’t provide a visa, but gives you the authorisation to travel.
Once you fill the ETA form online, you will receive an acknowledgement. You will receive an approval or a referral notice with 24 hours of form submission. Print out your approval and carry it with you. Once you pass the immigration, you get the visa stamped on your passport. If you get a referral notice, you’ll have to contact the
Department of Immigration and Emigration, Colombo.

There is a processing charge of $10 (about INR 520) which has to be paid online at the time of form submission. Children under the age of 12 are exempted from this fee. ETA can even be submitted on arrival at the port of entry in
Sri Lanka (additional processing charges). For additional information visit http://www.eta.gov.lk/
