Visa is apparently the most important thing when you are travelling to places out of your country. It’s like a lifeline in an alien country, thus, you must take note of all the information regarding your visa. Kochi has its own international airport and it has a full-fledged Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).

The chief officer of FRRO is empowered to fee waivers, grant visa extensions and other visa-related issues. The following pointers might sort out the visa regulation for you. Read on:

  • There will be Visa-On-Arrival for selected nationalities, which will be available by end of this year.
  • Visitors arriving to India must apply for a tourist visa before their trip. These are easily accomplished at the local Indian consulate in your nearest capital city.

  • Tourist visas have a validity of up to six months upon first entering the country, and are usually issued without any delay.
  • You will need two passport-sized photos and a small fee when you submit your visa application. Make sure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the day you plan to arrive in India
  • Extensions from the Cochin Commissioner of Police are available for an additional fee once you are in country. Telephone: +91-484-2394770.

Don't forget to carry your visa at all times with you, losing it would be a quite a hassle. However, if such an unfortunate incident happens you must lodge an FIR immediately before rushing to the FRRO.
