Though it is the destination that beckons us, the journey itself etches a different experience in the memory of the traveller. Be it through the clouds or through the picturesque greeneries on the sides of the rails and roads, every route has its own story to tell. To begin the experience, three ways are listed below:

  • By Air

If getting a panoramic bird's eye view is what you expect on your way to the destination, booking a flight ticket would be the best option. The nearest airport is Jubbarhati Airport, Shimla, at a distance of 45 kilometer from Chail. For the time being, only Kingfisher Airlines operates with daily flights from Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, though it depends on weather conditions. One can also fly to Chandigarh Airport, which is 115 km from Chail. Once you have landed in Shimla or Chandigarh, you can hit the road as it will take few hours to finally reach Chail.

    Address: Airport-in-Charge
    Airports Authority of India
    Shimla Airport
    Shimla
    Himachal Pradesh
    Telephone: +91-177-2736835 / 2736956

  • By Rail

The great Indian Railways has always something to offer to its passengers and what can be more alluring than winding through lush hills and dark tunnels, with the usual hoots in the background. The nearest railway head is Kalka which is at a distance of 86 km
. Cabs and buses can be hired from here to reach Chail. One can also take train to Chandigarh as it is more well connected to railway routes than Kalka.

  • By Road

Roads seem indispensable to reach Chail. No matter what the travelling option is, to experience the beauty of Chail, one has to take a road trip. Deluxe bus services from Shimla can be availed regularly with a reasonable cost of INR 200 only and less than two hours of travelling time. From Delhi, it will take around 9 to 10 hours to cover the distance of approximately 345 km. If the road to Shimla becomes inconvenient due to unfavourable weather and if the very idea of driving from Delhi stresses you out even before you start the journey, then you can always opt to start from Chandigarh, which is 106 km from Chail and will comparatively take less time.

There is nothing to lose with the varieties in the modes of travel. In fact, even before we reach Chail, many experiences worth cherishing will already be in our memory. So, let the journey begin!
