An exotic land of intriguing cultures, medieval landscapes, great shopping and memorable experiences, Alwar promises to be as much filled with adventure and fun as you expect it to be and then some. Getting around Alwar is pretty straightforward and you have the following transit modes to choose from:

By Cabs

Alwar doesn’t really have an organized cab service as of now. It might be better and safer to request the hotel for a cab service. Ask the hotel staff for the fare before asking the cab driver and fix it with the driver before leaving the hotel, so that neither of you are in for an unpleasant discussion later regarding the fare. Alwar can get dry and dusty in summers and spring and cabs may be a better traveling mode during those times. Also, a number of sightseeing spots are located on the outskirts and a little way off, where it is better to go with a vehicle to accompany you at all times, as finding a vehicle to come back may not be a possibility.

By Bus

Within Alwar, Rajasthan state roadways run city bus service that offers a convenient and economical option for exploring the city. The fare tends to be nominal and the frequency of buses plying different routes is good. Ask the hotel staff to guide you with respect to bus stops and likely bus numbers to look for. However, you may not be able to cover all points of attraction via city bus, especially those on the fringes and outskirts of Alwar.

By Autorickshaw

Three wheelers or auto rickshaws are another option for travelling within Alwar. You can find one easily at the markets and parked in front of the hotels. Travelling in autos will require a bit of your haggling skills as most refuse to go by the meter. Ask the hotel staff about what different destinations will roughly come out to be. Before getting in an auto ask the driver what he will charge. This will reveal whether you will be paying the fare by the meter or an arbitrary amount. Insist on paying by the meter but if they still refuse, you can haggle down to a reasonable amount.

A land of spice scented mystery and medieval forts, Alwar will put your senses on a high alert with the promise of an adventure just round the corner. Sit back and let the city unfold its magic.
