Wanting a family getaway from a long time now? If people around you are just jumping all day and all night asking for a weekend long vacation then I am here to tell you that Almora is definitely one place that should be on your list. The hill station of Almora is the ideal family getaway for a short duration, providing the excitement of various adventure sports and a rope way. As far as the eye can see there are mountains, some cut out in steps for farming, others replete with lush greenery. It serves as an excellent pit stop for relaxing and exploration while making journeys to hill stations that are far away.

So here are some of the things that you have to have to do. Almora is a destination that just takes one day to explore fully and gives you the perfect unwinding experience. So I will tell you now what you can do in the one day.

  • Day 1

For a perfect itinerary for Almora, you must be an early waker. You might ask why would you want to wake up early while on a vacation. Well, that’s a valid question. My friend, that is because you might not want to miss the mesmerising site of a sunrise at the Bright End Corner in Almora. However, you can also experience that in the evening during the sunset. It is equally spellbinding during that time. Now once you are done exploring the realms of natural beauty right in the morning, your day cannot go wrong in any way after such a start and Almora will make sure that that does not happen. After this experience, you would want to get on to exploring the beautiful temples that are located in Almora.

Pick your own order in which you would explore the temples as they almost closeby considering the size of the town that we are talking about. Be it the Chitai Temple or Kasar Devi Temple, Katarmal Sun Temple or the Methodist Church, pick any one of them and your spiritual side will get a wakeup call for sure. The aura at these places is such that it compels you to fall in love with the tranquility that life has to offer to you at such points. Also, the nature surrounding these structures along with the beautiful architecture spell bind you in not one but several ways.

If this does not fit the bill for you then the sheer beauty that the hill station has to offer will prove to be an enthralling experience for you. Just put on your walking shoes and get going. Explore the town doing what it does best, impressing you.

After the temples, you should head on for the only major museum that is located in the town. The public museum, Gobind Ballabh Pant Museum is known for its precious artefacts from the Katyuri and Chand dynasties. The Museum is also a hub for anybody wanting to know more about the famous folk styles of painting, Aspen and Kumaoni. The Museum is also known for housing letters from Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel to Gobind Ballabh Pant and pamphlets used for protest marches against the house arrests of Jawahar Lal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi and other prominent leaders.

I think that’s going to be tiring enough for a day and you would want to head back to the hotel after all this exploration in one day and indulge in the delectable dinner that the hotel or any restaurant that you choose has to offer. Good night.

  • Day 2

Here comes the second day of your stay in the town and you are not at all tired. Well, don’t you think somebody should be acknowledged here? It is none other than the place itself. Almora gives you the deepest sleeps and that is going to refresh you enough to get on with the business the next day. Now once you are refreshed, head on to experience some of the best opportunities for that adrenaline rush that you have been craving for a long time now. It’s time for some trekking. You should get your trekking gear to Almora or you can just buy everything from there. So, now when you are fully equipped with the items that are going to be your friends on the hills then get on to any of the treks that are in the town. Be it the Almora to Jageshwar Trek or the Pindari Trek, you can choose any one of them according to your capabilities as Pindari trek is a little complex for amateurs. So, choose wisely. Also, the treks are not that observed so be cautious while trekking on these comparatively simpler treks.

  • Day 3

If you are done with exploring the town and have one more day with you then you can explore any of the nearby places that are worth experiencing. You can choose from either Mukteshwar, Ramgarh, Ranikhet or Nainital which are around 33 to 60 km away from the centre of the town. You will easily get transportation modes to reach there. However, you should exercise some of the best haggling practices while settling on the fares.

If you have more days, you can accommodate every place that I have listed in your itinerary and then you will not have to choose either of them.

After talking so much about it, you will not miss it on this weekend for sure. But if you are planning to dodge it for some while now then make sure the ones asking for it are looking at this any time soon.
