How nice it would be if all your travel plans were already made for you? When on a trip to a new place, there are chances you may miss out on a few places due to lack of time, miscalculation of distance or sheer confusion. Well relax and sit back, below is a two day itinerary for the beautiful town of Gokarna. You can pick and choose, delete or change the places to visit in Gokarna according to your whims and fancies. Laze a wee bit longer on the beach or savour the delicious pancake for as long as you please. Gokarna is yours to explore and discover.

Day 1

  • As you reach the charming town of Gokarna, you could head to your hotel for a quick nap and some grub. With your journey weariness over and tummy satisfied, you could head to the popular Om beach and explore your way to the beautiful Paradise beach, if not too tired.

  • Om beach has a plethora of options for water sports, an enthralling game of volleyball, lazing around and indulging in the fine local cuisine of Gokarna. Lined with innumerous shacks, you can settle in with a chilled beer or pamper your senses with a soothing milkshake. After an exhilarating day, if you’d like to explore some more, you could head to Paradise beach connected to Om beach through an uneven rocky path or boat taxis available.

  • If you do decide to head to Paradise beach, you’ll also hit Half Moon beach on your way. Comparatively quieter, Half Moon beach is home to a few cafes, hammocks lodged between trees, musicians and backpackers. Don’t be surprised if you are greeted by the melodious sounds of guitar or the soft beating of drums. Offering scenic views, the sunset at Half Moon beach is splendid.

  • By the time its time for dinner, if you some energy left you could head to Paradise beach for a scrumptious dinner or stay in at Half Moon beach for a hearty meal. The shacks are open until late and the beaches are bustling with activity. After dinner, if your legs are giving up, you could head back to your hotel. With umpteen autos waiting at the parking of the beach, finding transport back wouldn’t be an issue. If the night still calls out to you, you could settle in for a warm bonfire evening before heading back.

Day 2

  • Fresh and rejuvenated, a new day calls out in this beautiful city. You could head to town and particularly the main market for some shopping and sightseeing. Most of the temples are in the main area of the town. The revered Mahabaleshwar Temple is very close to the market while the Bhadrakali Temple is a few kms away.

  • With a few shops outside the temple complex offering colourful beads, religious articles and other knick knacks, your shopping could begin right here. After some browsing and bargaining, head to the main market for some real haggling. Colouring the streets are a variety of little curios. From harem pants, hippie dresses to brass lamps and the famous sweet Kallusakkare, the shops here will surprise you. Take home a plethora of delights for loved one back home and a few goodies for yourself. Memories in the form of souvenirs are always a wonderful reminder of the memorable holiday gone by.

  • If after an exciting shopping spree, the beach calls out to you again. You could head to any of the beaches in Gokarna, from Om beach to Paradise beach, depending on your mood. Amidst the crashing waves, soothing sun and surreal beauty, you’ll find the perfect place to lunch and relax. Snuggle in and soak in the melodious sounds of nature away from the humdrum of city life.

  • As your second day in Gokarna comes to an end, you could plan for an early evening trek across the various beaches. If adventure is not on your mind, a leisurely stroll on the beach would do wonders for your aching feet. If a trek is on the cards, maybe a little bit of planning would help along with the basic necessities you would need on your trekking tour. After your preferred evening activity or the lack of it, you could head to your hotel for a peaceful sleep after a fulfilling day.

Enjoy, explore the city as you please. From beaches to temples, the town of Gokarna has it all. A laidback holiday or one with lots of activity, the choice is completely yours. Offering a little something to everyone, the charming town will not disappoint.
