The answer to ‘When to visit Mysore?' can be crisply answered with “Anytime!”, as the semi-arid climate of the city makes the trip quite pleasant and comfortable. The summers are not that hot and the winters are not very cold, however, avoid the rainy season which is between June and September, when it becomes unbearably humid. Just read on to know when to plan your trip to Mysore.

  • Summers (April to June)

These summer months experience moderately warm weather which makes it possible for sightseeing and other tourist related activities. There is a wide difference in temperature between days and nights, with the temperature ranging between 22°C to 39°C. Light cotton clothing is preferred for this weather.

  • Monsoon (June to September)

This time of the year should be avoided to visit Mysore, as the Southwest monsoons bring heavy rainfall during these months which makes sightseeing highly problematic. So, if you do have choice, you should avoid these months.

  • Winters (October to March)

Winters are the best time to visit this city as the cool temperature ranges between 10°C to 27°C, which makes exploring this glorious city and its outskirts extremely pleasing. Many of the popular festivals also fall during these months, including the grandly celebrated Dussehra and others like Pongal, Diwali and Holi, which offer not only awesome sights but also a chance to be a part of the festivities. February and March bring with them the colourful flowers of spring, making the city look like a lovely meadow of colorful flowers along with cool weather, and thus, promises to be an amazing time to visit Mysore.

Mysore is truly one of those cities that can actually be visited anytime, as the moderate climate makes visiting quite pleasant. But, do remember to avoid travelling to this city during monsoons if you can, as the rains might dampen your plans.
