“Pack a pillow and blanket and see as much of the world as you can.You will not regret it.” Says Jhumpa Lahiri in her novel The Namesake. Believe in those words. Now is a time as good as any to take a vacation of your lifetime  . But if you are planning to explore a place for your vacation and make the most of the local geography, culture, cuisine and local festivities, make sure that the weather is perfect to visit the place.

  • Summer

    May, June a
nd July sees  maximum tourists flocking in Nainital to escape the scorching heat of the summer. The temperature is quite pleasant and ranges between 30 degrees C during the day and 10 degrees C during night, which is pretty pleasant if you are keen on a bit of trekking and sightseeing in Nainital. However, make sure that you get your reservations done in advance, due to the rush. The beautiful and calm Naini lake beckons you with an irresistible urge to set sail on her waters. The best part is that weather being fairly optimum, you would not have to carry a lot of woolens with you. Also, the days are long which means you can explore the town more.

  • Monsoon

and August is not very advisable for a Nainital trip because heavy rains can prove to be a spoilsports. Be prepared to be holed up in your hotel room and don’t forget to pack your favourite book and music albums. Since conveyance in not easily available and roads become slippery in the mountains, sightseeing could become an arduous effort. Avoid!

  • Autumn

By September, the temperature records a downfall and number of tourists coming in gathers momentum. If you happen to visit in October, chances are that you will get to see the autumn festival being held here. Also Durga Puja, one of the most important nine day long Hindu festivity is celebrated with great pomp and show.

  • Winter

November marks the beginning of an early winter, the temperature records a steep decline. The days are sunny, but nights become freezing. December and January are marked by snowfall making the whole atmosphere even more romantic and is most preferred by honeymooning couples. However extra precaution and preparation must be done if you are planning to travel with kids and elderly people.

March to June and then again September and October is the best time to visit Nainital, just in case if you have missed on the summers. Be it a family vacation, a getaway from daily chores or your honeymoon where you can’t take eyes off each other and whisper sweet nothings into each others ear, Nainital has a lot to offer to everybody. Happy vacations!
