Visit the magical and scenic hill town Katra, where picturesque surroundings and the verdant, green surroundings keep company to tourists and pilgrims on their journey to the Mata Vaishno Devi, a famous holy shine. If you are planning a trip to Katra and want to know about how Katra looks like during summers or monsoons or winters, here are the tidbits:

  • Summer

The summers, starting from May to July, are quite hot and warm with bright sunny days. It is advisable to carry a suntan lotion with you as the sun may get harsh on your skin. Maximum temperature may go upto 40°C and the minimum temperature may go down to 5°C. Make sure you have your woolen clothes in your bag as the nights could be chilly.

  • Monsoon

Katra witnesses pelting rain during monsoons and it looks even more beautiful with mist kissed plants and an alluring landscape. However, the weather may turn humid due to rains. If you are planning a trip to Katra during monsoon, don't forget to take your rain gear along with you.

  • Winter

If you are lucky enough you might wake up to a snow capped Katra during the winters which start from October and last till February. The hill town witnesses rare snowfalls during December and January. Winters are extremely cold in Katra with minimum temperature falling to even -14°C. Make sure you have warm shawls and snuggly sweaters in your travelling bags and do carry woolen socks to keep your feet warm. Wrapped in your warm shawls, you are now ready to explore the beautiful Katra.

Katra is ready to welcome you with open arms all throughout the year, be it sunny summers, misty monsoons or windy winters. But still, if you want to know about the best time to visit this pristine hill town, the months of March to November would perfectly the bill.
