Food is a major part of everyday life and it's fun to try the local food of the places we visit, isn't so? The beautiful hill station with lush mountains and miles and miles of tea plantations has surprisingly yummy palette of food items which are both vegetarian and non-vegetarian.

The staple diet in Munnar is fish and rice cooked in coconut oil which is totally Kerala style. You can taste coconut in almost everything you eat as most of the food is cooked in coconut oil.The weather and physical activity on these hills help build a raving appetite for a variety of snacks like vadas, bondas and bhajis savoured with a cup of tea or coffee. Just stop by at one of the local restaurants in Munnar and try these authentic cuisines of the town.

Dishes cooked here are flavored with a myriad spices, such as peppers, clove and nutmeg, all grown locally. Apart from the regular meals at restaurants, delicious street food can be savored at one of the Thattukadas or fast food stalls.

For the vegetarians try the Dosa, Vada, Idli, Appam and Thali meals on a banana leaf which are really yummy. And for the non-vegetarians it's a treat as you can gorge on the famous Keralan fish-curry and Kerala beef fry with Kerala Porotta.
Even if you are not a foodie, the weather and the steaming hot and tasty food will make you one. In addition to visiting the popular places to visit in Munnar, make sure that you try the sumptuous food of Munnar.
