What NOT TO DO as a first-time traveller?

0 people found this answer useful Useful ?Yes

You already know what you should be doing while travelling for the first time? Good! Here are few tips on what NOT TO DO as a first time traveller.

Don’t stand clueless on a street with a map or guidebook in your hand. Stay confident and don’t pretend to be a newbie. That’s why being friends with locals is important. Be careful as street scammers, auto and taxi drivers are quite good with spotting a newbie pretty quick.

Packing everything is one of the common mistakes all first-time travellers make. Carrying a heavy luggage or backpack around is not the best thing to do.

No matter what happens, don’t panic. Panicking only leads to adverse situations. Whether you have misplaced a document or lost your way, relax, breathe easy and work out the best solution possible.

Doing only what the guidebook suggests you to do is not a great way to go about exploring the new city that too as a first-time traveller. There’s more to the place than just striking off the list on the “mechanical” itinerary.

Interact with locals to know more about the traditions and culture of the city. We often refrain from doing it, but trust me that’s the best way to know about things even the city guides or books don’t mention.

It’s good to buy souvenirs and gifts for your loved ones. But don’t over do it as you will have problem carrying them. Bring back memories and not materialistic things.

Make sure you do not leave your home without travel insurance. Good travel insurance is handy, in case you fall sick or become seriously injured during the journey.

While it’s good to pre-book everything, be it accommodation, breakfast, lunch or dinner, it’s equally important to leave yourself some space to be able to alter your itinerary and anything interesting that comes your way.

We hope now you’ll be more careful with what NOT TO DO as a first-time traveller.
Bon Voyage!
