  • Khajjiar

Located around 4-7 km from Dalhousie, this hill station in Chamba district is perched on a small plateau, and is surrounded by lush green forests. It is often referred to as the MIni Switzerland of Himachal Pradesh, with its breathtaking views of the meadows and the lake in the middle of it adding glamour to it. This perennial lake is fed by many streams and the surrounding cedars add to its eternal beauty.
Three different ecosystems-forest, lake and pasture-thrive at this one lovely place. You can also pay a visit to the
Khajinag temple located nearby and dedicated to the local Devi. All in all, it is a must-visit place because it provides options for so many adventurous activities such as horse-riding,paragliding, etc for both adults and children alike.
Khajjiar can be reached in an hour by bus or by private means of transport.

  • Kalatope Wildlife Sanctuary

This exotic abode of multiple hues of flora and a wide variety of fauna is a natural habitat par excellence. The beautiful deodars greet you with fresh breeze as you journey through the zigzag roads.
Though it is rare to spot wild animals, owing to the dense forests, you will get to view the breathtaking wonders of the colourful fauna all too often.
The sanctuary is located some 9 km away from
Gandhi Chowk in Dalhousie and can be reached within half an hour by taxi and a little more through bus. If you are keen on taking your own vehicle inside the sanctuary, then a permission from the Forest Officer in Chamba must be taken in advance.

  • Bharmour

Though this village is about 40 km from Chamba, the travelling you do will be worth it. Some of the archaeological temples here are said to date back to the 10th century.
A trek through the hill to the
Chaurasi Temple is really advisable. Another advisable trek(about 35 km) is to the holy Manimahesh Lake, whose purifying waters are seen as invincible by pilgrims, especially during the Manimahesh Yatra during the months of August and September.
The Mountaineering Institute of Manali situated nearby is available to help people really intent on trekking adventures.

I am sure many of you are already fixing plans and making arrangements to the above listed destinations. Well, go ahead and have a rocking time in these exotic locales.
