So you're planning your itinerary and wondering what kind of clothes to keep, what to expect on your trip and what not to? Your wonder stops here, with these useful tips and guidelines. Keep these in mind and you're all set for your hassle-free Chamba vacation.

  • Reservations: Chamba is a lesser known tourist destination in Himachal Pradesh, which sees fewer crowds than other hill-stations like Manali or Dalhousie. Due to this, hotel options are not really in plenty, so make sure you book your hotel in advance. It would also be a good idea to confirm your hotel bookings with their staff before you begin your journey towards Chamba.

  • Clothing: It is advised to carry light woolens while visiting Chamba during Summer, as the nights may have a slight nip in the air. For travel during the Winter season, it would be good to carry proper woolens to keep you warm when the mercury drops. This trip would also be a good time to dig out those sneakers and walking shoes to tread the hilly areas in Chamba, especially since walking is the best way to move around the town.

  • Driving: Roads can get narrow here and difficult to maneuver, so it'll be ideal to brush up your driving skills before taking this trip. If you're hiring a driver, ensure that he is skilled to drive along the hills and knows all basic safety measures. It would also be helpful if you get your vehicle serviced and tyres checked, for being stranded on the way can be quite a dampener. Also check for parking space for your vehicle at your hotel beforehand to avoid any last minute surprises.

  • Trekking: If trekking is on your mind, then you know by now that Chamba has a lot of options for you. Some of the treks can be challenging, so be sure that you're up for it, health-wise. Carry all essential medicines in your knapsack with some biscuits and water, just in case you don't find a food stall or shop on your way.

  • General: Each city has its own set of rules and regulations, set down by the government. It would be advisable to adhere to these to avoid any untoward incidents during your trip.
