Packing your bags to head to Agra? Great! To make your trip safe, memorable and full of happy times keeping the following in mind should help:

  • The best time to visit Agra is between November and March, when the temperatures are between 4.20 C 31.70 C, so make sure you pack adequate woolens.

  • Most monuments have visiting times, make sure your time of visit matches the same.

  • Hiring guides always helps, as they not only present historical facts by means of engaging stories, but also help in the knowledge and understanding of the cultural and architectural intricacies pertaining to that monument. Government approved tourist guides can be contacted at India Tourism Office, Mall Road, Agra Telephone:+91-562- 2226368

  • Beware of goons who promise unbelievable stay prices or quote exorbitantly cheap prices for goods. Always remember, what is too good to be true, is never true.

  • To beat the crowd and sun, try to visit maximum places early in the day or during the evening.

  • There are strict regulations pertaining to what you may or may not carry inside monuments, ranging from mobile phones to eatables, do keep in mind the same.

  • Though the people in Agra are very friendly and willing to help, drinking in the open or public display of affection is not taken too kindly, try abstaining from the above.

  • While buying local handicrafts of marble and softstone inlay work, make sure you bargain as these touristy goods are often overpriced. Apart from the tiny Taj Mahal replicas that every traveller picks up from here, you can also buy leatherware, brassware, carpets, jewellery and embroidered garments from here.

  • Nearest International Airport: Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. Nearest Domestic Airport: Kheria Airport, 6 kms from Agra. Agra is well connected to the rest of the country by roadways and railways.

Being one of the most touristy places of India, the people of Agra are a helpful and welcoming lot. Shed  your worries and drive to this historical city, for sights that make you go “wow” and experiences you cherish for a lifetime.
