The capital of India, Rajdhani Delhi is thronged with tourists throughout the year. Laden with monuments that are reminiscent of the past, vibrant markets and a wide variety of delectables are only the tip of the iceberg that the city has to offer. So, if you happen to land up at this tourist hub of India you will surely want to get the insight of the various characteristics of the city that will make your trip perfect. Few travel tips that you would like to keep in mind as a tourist in Delhi are given below:

  • The best time to visit Delhi is from February to April, during these months the climate in the city is moderate and you can have a pleasurable stay. However the mid summers or mid winters are not very ideal time to visit. Winters are very chilly and accompanied by thick fog in the late nights and mornings that are capable to block clear view. While  summers characterises scorching heat that can get you dehydrated.


  • Geographically Delhi is divided into five districts viz. North Delhi, South Delhi, East Delhi, West Delhi and Central Delhi. These districts are well connected by Delhi Metro and buses.


  • Traveling around Delhi is pretty convenient since all the major places are connected by Delhi Metro. It is also the safest and easy way to traverse within the city, more preferable than buses, taxis and autos.


  • It is better to use plastic money rather than carrying too much hard cash. ATMs are located at all parts in the city in the malls and most of the restaurants you can just swipe your card. However in the street markets vendors seldom have a card swiping machine.


  • For shopping it is better to go on the weekdays to avoid the bustling crowd. Moreover it notable that the major markets like Janpath and Chandni Chowk are closed on Sundays.


  • Street food is Delhiites favourite and is found in wide variety around the city. However you should take note if the vendor offering you food is taking care of basic hygiene.
