Answer: While you're planning your perfect holiday, you sure don't want to be burdened with questions and confusions about the destination. Leave all your worries behind, because these tips and guidelines will be your friend on your trip to Diu. Keep the following pointers in mind and you're good to go:

  • Reservations: A popular tourist destination, especially for people from Maharashtra and Gujarat, Diu sees quite a number of footfalls every year. Though there are quite a few resorts and hotels, it would be advisable to make your reservations in advance and have them reconfirmed before your scheduled trip. Since flights are not very frequent, be sure to book way in advance to make sure there are no last minute surprises.

  • Clothing: Mostly a humid place due to its proximity to the sea, it would be ideal if you carried light cotton clothing, especially during the Summer season. Also, don't forget to pack those umbrellas, particularly during the wet, monsoon season. Slippers would be ideal to walk around the beach, while you can enjoy the sand in your toes.

  • Driving: As with any long road trip, it would be ideal to ensure that your vehicle is well-serviced and without any faults. Make sure the tyres are in proper shape and keep those tools handy. You sure don't want to be stranded mid-way!

  • Cash: ATMs are not very easily available in Diu, so it's best to carry sufficient amount of cash with you for most of your expenses. Most hotels accept credit cards, but be sure to check with the hotel you choose in advance.

  • General: Every region in India is governed by both the Central and State laws, so it would be advisable to keep within the boundaries of law and avoid any untoward incidents. For insights into the culture and lifestyle of the people here, be sure to consult your hotel's staff, especially with regards to rituals and local customs. Hurting the sentiments of locals would not be the best idea on a holiday!

Feeling all sorted? Get packing and get going for there's no better time than now!
