While visiting the temples at the Pushkar lake be careful of people forcing you to go for Special PAID prayers. They would not tell you its paid till the end and once its over, they would force you to get as much cash as possible out of your pockets.

A new place may require you to be extra smart and decisive. We recommend to you some of the tips and guidelines that you can follow in order to enjoy your trip to Pushkar better. Have a look.

  • Weather and Nature

Being a part of Rajasthan, Pushkar understandably is quite a hot and dry zone. It is advisable that you choose the winter months between November and February for your visit here. Moreover, the world-famous Pushkar Fair too happens in November.

  • Journey

You should try haggling for taxi fares while travelling to or within the town of Pushkar.

  • Stay/ Eat

If an unconventional, homely and cheap place is your preference, then you could try out places like Atithi Guest House and Chacha's Garden. Charges vary from anywhere between INR 250 to INR 500.

Non-vegetarian food and alcohol are strictly prohibited in this sacred place as they are seen by the citizens as a corrupting influence. So, do not think of indulging in either of them.

  • Sightseeing

The sacred Pushkar Lake is surrounded with 52 ghats. Being a hub of large number of masses, you should beware of the Pandas at the Ghats who are experts in duping innocent devotees and extract money from them.
If you wish to perform prayers at the
ghats, do fix the costs with the priest in advance.

    Do visit
Sri Brahmaji Temple, the only temple in the world dedicated to the Creator of the world, Lord Brahma.

    While undertaking a
Camel Safari, do ready yourself for the rough and sandy terrains that you are going to traverse during your tour, and if you can handle it. Adventures such as this and Hot Air Ballooning are not feasible during summer months.

  • General

Lastly, do not forget to keep some emergency numbers handy. Here are some-
    Police Station: +91-145-2772046
    Government Hospital: +91-145-2772029
    Tourist Information Centre: +91-145-2772040

Now that much has been outlined for you to keep in mind, you can go ahead and explore the place yourself.
