With just a stone’s throw away, Himachal may see most of the bustle of activity, but together with Chandigarh, they make up one of North India’s, especially Delhi’s, favorite places for a nearby escape full of shopping, incredible local eats, art, and outdoorsy options like trekking and exploring the hilltops and simply relaxing in the pristine mountain air. Located in the plains and because of its proximity to the Shivalik ranges, Chandigarh experiences near perfect temperature barring few months. Let’s have a look at what the climate of Chandigarh is like in different seasons:

  • Summers

It’s during the peak of summers, mid March to June, that temperature soars to 42-45 degrees and hovers in the range of 37-42 degrees average. It is best to avoid a trip to Chandigarh during this time as outdoor options, shopping, sightseeing, etc are limited and uncomfortable.

  • Monsoons

With the first touch of raindrops, beginning June, the temperatures falls and Chandigarh livens up under the spell of the drizzles and thundershowers. The evenings can get humid. But despite the humidity, the weather is pleasant and enjoyable; ideal to explore the city.

  • Autumn

With temperatures ranging from 13 to 32 degrees, September to October are the perfect time to visit Chandigarh and as you can imagine, also the peak season of tourist influx. Mornings are pleasant and at nights you can feel the vibrant, cool mountain air wafting from the nearby mountain ranges.

  • Winters

The month of November again has an ideal weather to explore and connect with the city. It’s the last few weeks of December and entire January that can get slightly tricky with the temperatures dropping down to 2 degrees at times. Low temperatures coupled with the thick fog that envelops the city, mid December to January may not be the time to plan a trip to Chandigarh.

  • Spring

With the temperatures rising to a comfortable 8 to 10 degrees at night and 12 to 15 degrees in the day, February and March become the other set of ideal time to visit Chandigarh. The roads are lined with blooming, radiantly green trees and shrubs. A perfect time to enjoy the outdoors, a visit in Spring will ensure that you enjoy all the delights that Chandigarh has to offer.

It seems that barring peak summers and peak winters, you can easily plan and have the perfect getaway you have been dreaming of with a trip to Chandigarh.
