Munnar is known for its ultimate natural beauty and the effect that it has on visitors. Waterfalls along with the other places to visit in Munnar also stand for the same. Let's have an idea where are they located exactly.
Located deep in a valley approximately 8 km from Munnar, just off the Kochi Road, is one of Munnar’s major lures — the Athukal Falls, which become a roaring cascade when the monsoon peaks in July-August. A narrow bridge, which needs to be negotiated carefully, spans the gorge. Take the left diversion from Pallivasal for the falls, 3 km away.

There are two other cascades along this same route which assume awesome proportions during the monsoon. The Cheeyapara Falls plunge from a height of over 500 ft right next to the highway — a popular bathing site for tourists.
A kilometre away one sees the equally impressive Valara Falls cascading tumultuously into a thickly forested ravine below the road. There are also Lakkam Waterfalls near Vagavurai Estate.
And you know what is the most interesting part of it all; they all give you a unique experience. So, what are you waiting for, start packing your picnic basket and get going!
