Want to get a taste of the flavours and cultures of the City of Joy this holiday? Make your way to the nearest cultural programme when here and spend an evening of relaxation and entertainment. Trust me, when you have a cultural fabric as vivid and vibrant as Kolkata, you don't want to miss out on this one!

  • Academy of Fine Arts

Lovingly called the Broadway of the East, the Academy of Fine Arts is known to stage some of the best Bengali plays of all times. All the plays are staged in the Theatre Auditorium of this complex which also has a fine arts museum. The Annual Theatre Festival of Kolkata is also  organised here, which is a major draw  for movie and theatre lovers. If you are in the city at the time of a performance, do make sure you see the production. A friendly advice, if you are travelling with kids, this won't be something they relish, so try and find another activity that keeps them engaged in the meanwhile.

If you are lucky, you might also just spot a mime artist at work when here!

It is always a  good idea to ask your hotel staff about the ongoing performances before heading to the place.
