  • Academy of Fine Arts

Lovingly called the Broadway of the East, the Academy of Fine Arts is known to stage some of the best Bengali plays of all times. All the plays are staged in the Theatre Auditorium of this complex which also has a fine arts museum. The Annual Theatre Festival of Kolkata is also  organised here, which is a major draw  for movie and theatre lovers. If you are in the city at the time of a performance, do make sure you see the production. A friendly advice, if you are travelling with kids, this won't be something they relish, so try and find another activity that keeps them engaged in the meanwhile.
