Kolkata's chinatown is home to almost 2,000 ethnic Chinese whose major livelihood stems from either working in the tanning industry or manning the numerous Chinese restaurants in the locality. The newer part of chinatown is now known as Tangra and this is where you will find most of the authentic Chinese food outlets.

The Golden Joy restaurant has an extensive menu and is easy on the pocket as a meal for two costs only INR 500. Another favourite amongst the locals is Kim Ling where a sumptious chinese meal can be partaken for INR 700. You could also try Kafulok or the Beijing Resteraunt for authentic Chinese food.

In most shops in Old Chinatown or Tiretti Bazaar, you are spoilt for choice between traditional Chinese or Indian Chinese food.
