The highest recorded rainfall in the country is also said to be one of the wettest places on earth - Mawsynram. It is a small village located in the Khasi Hills of Meghalaya. Interestingly it is located 10 kms away from Cherrapunji, which follows closely in the heels of Mawsynram (second to it) of being a place with the highest recorded rainfall in the country. Both the places are major scenic attractions near Shillong, owing to the scenic vistas they have to offer, abundant natural cave formations, flora and fauna. This makes it one of the many reasons to visit East India.
